On Being a Mother!
Being a mother is fun, especially if you planned for it.
My son, Lonnie, was born in 1959, two weeks early much to my surprise. I had him by hypnosis so fairly easy. It was fun tohave a boy as I had 4 sisters and two younger brothers.I found they still had cute clothes for boys as well as just little girls. Buster Browns were my favorite . Also they had fun little suits for boys so you could dress them up. I recall, when we went out for dinner one night my son was so excited because a lady commented it was so nice to see someone dressed up. (Understand this was during the Hippy era). Boy’s were fun I thought to myself as they made noises with their trucks, etc. Lonnie liked to play in the sand and so I would let him get as dirty as he wanted & just give him a bath when he was through playing. He played in Little League baseball & it was fun going to the games. When he became a teenager I told him I am not going through all that trauma! His dad taught him to care for his toys, that Friday was family night, etc. We taught him respect for his country, his teachers, etc. He was also taught kindness to other children. He grew up to be a very caring young man. Thank you “God”.
My granddaughter was fun also. After having a boy, it was fun tohave a little girl to dress up. She was lots of fun. In the summer she would go to the lake with me. She always wanted to do things herself. I would have her pick up after herself. I am terrible at directions but, even at an early age, she could tell me what direction to take. She took piano lessons on a small piano I purchased for her. She also took dance. Keep them busy was our motto. She was lucky to have a very attentive dad & mom.
My great granddaughter just turned one May 29th She is very lively and has a mind of her own. Got that from her momas I recall when she was young. She lives a ways away so her dad & mom keep us up to date on Instagram.
Her mom and dad are throwing a big party next weekend as her first birthday fell on Memorial Day.
That will be fun!!!
